*shake* *shake*

Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night shaking like a leaf? I have. In fact, I did last night...


I can't remember everything about this dream, but what I do recall is it beginning very strangely and ending in death.

I was driving Mr. Saturn, and for some odd reason, I had another car tied onto him by a rope. When I got up to the riverbank area, apparently the rain or snow from the day before had eroded the road really badly. I did not know this. When I crossed a bridge-like area, the road collasped beneith Mr. Saturn's tires, and soon I found myself sliding dangerously fast down a muddy slope, dragging the other car behind me.

I crashed into the river and began to sink really fast. The doors wouldn't open, and neither would the windows. I pounded on the windows, but they weren't breaking. Despite all this, water was seeping into Mr. Saturn from some opening, and it was filling up fast. It was pointless to scream for help. I knew no one could hear me from this far underwater.

I finally found something in the glove compartment that was really hard, almost rock like. I busted out the windshield with it, and water instantly filled up the car. I swam out of it and up to the surface. As soon as I got my head above water, I noticed the car that was attached to Mr. Saturn was floating. I swam over to it and tugged on the rope, and when I did, Mr. Saturn instantly popped up out of the water and started floating. Now in the dream, I thought this was a normal thing to happen, but now that I'm actually awake, I can see how weird that was. And things were about to get weirder.

I looked around me. I must have drifted for a long distance, because I didn't recognize where I was. I noticed there was a dock to my left and I saw street signs poking out of the water. Huh? I soon realized the area I was in was a flooded city. The river had overflowed about 10 to 20 feet in this city. On the right side of me, I saw many pine trees on shore. Their long tendrils were reaching out into the water, as if to grab something. I saw lots of floating debris from houses, and it was here, that the river pretty much slowed down to a near stop.

I noticed two people sitting on the dock, barefoot, with their feet in the water. One of them looked like my mom. She even waved to me and said, "Hey! You found the car!" (Talking about the car on the rope) "Stay right there, I'll find someone to bring it to shore!"

"That's okay!" I said, "I can carry it myself." And, another moment where it made sense in the dream, but not for real, I proceeded to carry this car, over my head, with one hand as I swam. It was surprisingly light! o o Once I got close, I tossed the car onto the shore, but... I couldn't get up there myself. The slope was way too muddy and steep. "What about Mr. Saturn?" I called out, "And me! I want to get out of this!"

The woman replied, "There is a switch at the bottom of the booey over there." She pointed out to this strange floating black box. It looked like 10 people could stand comfortably on top of it. I smiled and immediately started swimming towards it. "WAIT!" I heard her cry, "You can't do it now! It's..."

I never heard the rest of it. I just kept swimming to that black thing. I then noticed that everything around me had gotten very quiet. Even the crickets had stopped chirping. I couldn't even hear the flow of the water anymore. At this point, I noticed that it was late evening, the sun was almost gone, but it was still strangely warm. The water was also very warm, and very still. I saw dead fireflies all over the surface of the water, and I was wondering why they were like that.

Suddenly, I heard a faint sound in the distance. A horn? It was familar... and it was blarring, but still faint. It must have been very far away. I then began to hear the slight trickle of the river around me and I started to look all around, trying to figure out where that sound was coming from. My eyes wandered to the dock, and I noticed the two people there were waving at me frantically. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but their facial expressions were ones ones of fear, and I could read their lips as they mouthed the words, "TURN BACK! TURN BACK NOW!!!!"

That's when my eyes wandered down... I saw train tracks beneith me. They were about 10 feet below the surface of the water. I heard the loud horn blarring and I suddenly realized what it was. "A train...??? In a flood??!"

I looked up just in time, to see a large old fashioned train right in front of me. And it hit me head on.

Everything went black.

When it was light again, the river water was colored red.

And then I woke up, shaking in fear. It was 4 in the morning...
